Creative Director Chris Broadbent founded Meraki Films in 2022 as an opportunity to focus on ideas & expressions of his vision so he could give to a global audience. Projects that send a message and affect people the way art should. With a focus on genre films, Meraki is working hard to make a name for themselves as a risky, daring production house committed to make productions only of a high, professional level, on often modest to high end budgets.

From Hobart, Tasmania Chris grew up from an Indigenous and Northern English backgrounds. His mother a Palawa from Lutruwita and his father; Leeds, Yorkshire!!
At a young age Chris was encouraged by both parents to express his creativity through drawing and writing but chose to go in the direction of performing arts.Having studied & trained the art of The Meisner Technique for 6 years,, Chris learnt the art of layered Instinctual storytelling on a very strong level. Chris began writing at the age of 27, realising the energy he embodied to tell stories was wanting to be released further than of a performance level and be push beyond the bounds of his experience. So, with vast learning resources and reaching out to various mentoring books on writing for both screen and stage Chris took pen to paper and allowed himself to be self-taught and give to the world the creativity of his imagination with storytelling in screen writing. It was in 2016 whilst staying in Brooklyn, New York Chris wrote his first script which he would go on and direct in 2021 which would be titled 'Balaclava Lane'
Luke Ford has an excellent profile withing the industry with a string of performances on Australian television, from Water Rats, McCloud’s Daughters, Home & Away and All Saints. He appeared as Iphicles in the NBC miniseries Hercules.
Luke’s film career began with the release of the Australian film Kokoda in 2006, but it was in The Black Balloon with Toni Collette, that Luke made his impact within the industry in a performance that won him an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2008. In the film, Luke plays Charlie Mollison, a boy with autism and ADD. Luke spent six months researching the role, including taking to the streets of Sydney in character to determine the effectiveness of his characterisation- This level of commitment is used with his work with Meraki
Immediately following The Black Balloon, Luke signed on to star in the third instalment of the Mummy series, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor opposite Brendan Fraser.
In 2010 and 2011, he had roles in several Australian films, including Animal Kingdom, Red Dog and Face to Face
Luke is a. prominent part of the Creative team here at Meraki Films where he uses his stellar creativity in storytelling within our productions.
